Thick, bristly coat. Colors include brown, gray, and black. Short, straight tail. Males have sharp upper and lower tusks. Females are smaller and lack tusks. Piglets are striped for camouflage.
Mainly nocturnal. Rests in dens during the day. Aggressive when provoked and when it defends its offspring. Male lives alone, except during the mating season.
Wild boars feed on almost anything from vegetables, fruit, and nuts to small animals and young lambs.
Along the Jordan and Yarmouk rivers, in the Ajloun Woodland Reserve, and the Mujib Nature Reserve.
