Slender body; gray upperparts; white underparts and face; black crown, collar, and bill; long tail.
Roosts in flocks. Frequently wags its tail up and down. Chases after insects on the ground.
Breeds in Europe; winters mainly in Africa; some winter in Jordan. Migrates south through Jordan in autumn and north in spring. Occurs in open urban areas and around water in northern Jordan and the Jordan Valley, including Amman, the Dead Sea, Azraq, Petra, and Aqaba.
