Slender, brown body; six legs with microscopic hairs that trap air for floating on water; the two short front legs are held forward to catch prey; the middle legs are used for propelling; the hind legs are used for steering.
Skates on water in fast bursts without breaking the water’s surface tension. Occasionally flies.
Feeds on insects.
