Reddish-brown, black-mottled upperparts; lighter underparts; striped, black-and-white neck patch; black bill; red eyes, eye-rims, and legs. Doves are smaller than pigeons.
Timid. Nests in trees and bushes. Pigeons and doves drink by sucking up water, while other birds scoop it up.
Seeds, shoots, and some insect.
Migrates south through Jordan in autumn and north in spring. Breeds in Jordan in summer in the Northern Highlands and in some semi-arid regions such as the Dana Nature Reserve. Nests in trees and bushes.
