The Toba Palace was built with baked bricks along the Syria-Hejaz caravan route in the mid 8th century CE, but never fully completed. The unpreserved palace is a vast, walled, rectangular enclosure with corner and side towers; two symmetrical structures with vaulted reception halls and living quarters; and three nearby wells.
