A total of 13 species in the Lathers genus have been recorded in Jordan. They are generally characterized by bushy or climbing plants; linear leaves; 5-lobed calyx; sweet-smelling flowers that come in red, pink, white, yellow, blue, or purple. Seeds are toxic if ingested in excessive quantities.
