Low, dark-green shell with yellowish patterns that turn darker with age; striped neck; thin legs with long claws. Males are smaller than females.
Semiaquatic. Seen mostly in or basking near water. Dives under water when threatened.
Plants, algae, carcasses, insects, and tadpoles.
Near permanent water in northwestern Jordan, including the Jordan River, Yarmouk River, and Zarqa River.
