Narrow, triangular, veined leaves with basal lobes; three long spines at the base of each leaf. Male, pollen-producing flowers develop at stem tips. Female, fruit-producing flowers develop lower on stems. Fruit is oval-shaped, covered with hooked spines that cling to animals for dispersal. Each fruit contains two seeds that germinate in different seasons.
Warm areas with moist soil in the Jordan River Valley and the Northern Highlands, including Jerash and Irbid.
