002- Iron Age Kingdoms
Sela is an Edomite city dating as far back as the 8th century BCE. It is near Bozrah (Busayra), the capital of the kingdom of Edom. The vertical cliffs and the flat top of Sela Mountain made it an ideal natural fortress against raids. It is believed to be one of the first places the Nabateans settled before establishing their new kingdom. The site includes the ruins of the ancient city of Sela, and Nabatean structures such as dams and high places.
