Reddish upperparts (dark in winter), light underparts, gray face. Juveniles have white spots. Males have antlers in the mating season (young males have short antlers, while older males have branched antlers).
Active in cool hours. Solitary, except in the mating season. Fast runner.
Roe deer feed on vegetation.
Once extinct in Jordan, it has been reintroduced into the Ajloun Woodland Reserve.
