The only agama in Jordan with longitudinal bands. Gray-brown body; triangular head with a narrower neck and a pointed nose; tail longer than its body. Changes color and patterns for camouflage and in response to heat. Displaying males have a blue throat. Receptive females have rusty orange spots on their back.
Climbs on shrubs to bask in the sun. Males signal their dominance by nodding and flashing their blue throat.
Persian agamas feed mainly on insects.
