Although they resemble mantises, they are not closely related. Mantid lacewings are characterized by two forelegs specialized to grasp prey, and net-veined wings that are longer than their body.
Hunts in shrubs. Females lay clustered, stalked eggs on leaves.
Adults prey on insects and other small invertebrates. Larvae are parasites that feed on spider eggs and insect larvae, eventually killing their hosts.
