Gray-brown upperparts with a black tail and wing margins; pale underparts; light eyebrows; black bill and connecting eyestripe.
Forages on the ground. Runs in short bursts and pauses with an upright posture.
Insects, mainly ants and beetles.
Common passage migrant through Jordan in spring and autumn. Breeds in summer in the Karak, Shobak, and Ras al-Naqb regions. Small numbers winter in northwestern Jordan and the Eastern Desert. Nests in burrows.
