Streaked, chestnut upperparts; paler orange underparts; light-gray head with dark streaks; dark upper bill and orange lower bill. Females are paler.
Timid and difficult to observe. Best seen around waterholes.
Buntings feed on seeds, and feed their young insects.
Rugged valleys and cliffs in western and southwestern Jordan, including Wadi Mujib and Petra. Nests on cliffs and building crevices.
