Great Crested Grebe

Brown upperparts; white underparts; white face and throat; pointed, pink bill; black streak between its eye and bill. Breeding adults have a black crest and collar. The crest is shorter and the collar is absent in the winter.
Swims and flies with an extended neck. Dives under water to forage.
Great crested grebes feed mainly on fish, some insects, amphibians, and crustaceans.
Breeds in Europe and northern Asia. Rare winter visitor to bodies of water in the Azraq region, Aqaba, and some reservoirs in western Jordan.
