A total of five globe thistle species have been recorded in Jordan. They are characterized by dense, ball-shaped, composite flower heads covered with tubular flowers and spines. Flowers are either white or blue, each with five petals. Globe thistles are drought-resistant.
Sunny, dry, rocky areas in the highlands, including Irbid, Jerash, Amman, Tafilah, and Petra.
Late spring and summer.
