False Widow Spiders
Resembles the black widow spider. Distinguished by a crescent band around the front of its shiny, round abdomen. May bite defensively, inflicting minor pain to humans.
Builds irregular, very sticky webs. Females often eat the smaller males after mating.
Feeds on insects and other spiders.
Common in fields and urban areas. Occurs in undisturbed places under rocks, plant debris, or furniture.
