Gray or brownish-gray plumage; whitish throat, often difficult to see; forked tail; short legs used only for clinging to vertical surfaces.
Clings to vertical surfaces and never lands on the ground. Catches flying insects in flight and swoops over water to drink.
Breeds in Europe; winters in Africa; migrates south through Jordan in autumn and north in spring; may breed in Jordan in summer. Occurs around urban areas in the Jordan Valley and the Eastern Desert. Nests in buildings and cliff crevices.
