Heart-shaped, hairy leaves with toothed margins. Male, pollen-producing flowers develop at stem tips. Female, fruit-producing flowers develop lower on stems. Fruit is oval-shaped, covered with hooked spines that cling to animals for dispersal. Each fruit contains two seeds that germinate in different seasons. Highly toxic if ingested.
Warm areas with moist soil in the Jordan River Valley and the Northern Highlands, including Jerash and Irbid.
