Canis lupus familiaris
Domestic dog, closely related to the gray wolf. Dogs were the first animals to be domesticated around 12,000 years ago. The Canaan dog has been used by Bedouins for thousands of years, but has not been selectively bred. It is highly intelligent, highly territorial, and difficult to transfer to a new owner. The Canaan dog has bushy tail that curls over its back. Colors include white, black, and brown, with or without patches.
Activity Conserves energy when possible, but is always alert and vigilant.
Small animals and human scraps.
Domesticated. Commonly used as a guard and herd dog.
