Invasive weed of South African origin. Trifoliate leaves with three heart-shaped, green leaflets, often speckled with purple spots. Yellow, 5-petaled flowers clustered on a slender, leafless stem.
Woodlands and shrublands in the Northern Highlands, including Amman, Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, and Karak.
Late winter and early spring.
Edible, sour-tasting stems and leaves. Roots are edible when cooked.
