Also known as stone marten. Slender body; brown coat with a white, forked chest-pattern; long, bushy tail; short ears and legs.
Mainly crepuscular. Territorial. Known for attacking chicken coops around urban areas and for damaging car engines by chewing on wires and hoses.
Feeds on small mammals, eggs, worms, and fruit.
Rare and vulnerable species. Occurs in pine and oak woodlands in the Northern Highlands, including Jerash, Ajloun, and Wadi al-Seer.
