Moth larvae in this family build protective cases unique to each species, using silk and materials such as wood or sand.
Carries its case as it forages. Attaches its case to a rock or tree to pupate. In some species, adult females lack wings and continue to live inside their cases, while males leave their cases in search of mates.
Larvae feed on lichen and tree leaves, often killing the host tree.
